Little Ausable River TrailImagine going out your front door and within a few minutes being on a trail that leads through your community. You pass shops and restaurants. Going farther, you might follow the trail to a park or into the countryside, or link with another trail that extends along a river to the next town.

For more than two decades, Parks & Trails New York has helped communities realize that vision.  Parks & Trails New York took a direct role in the launching of several regional projects such as the Erie Canalway Trail, D&H Canal Heritage Corridor, Mohawk Valley Heritage Corridor, and Genesee Valley Greenway. Now through a program called Healthy Trails, Healthy People, Parks & Trails New York staff provide technical assistance to communities across the state, helping New Yorkers develop more active environments and an enhanced quality of life through the creation of multi-use trails.
